UART to Wifi Model

Posted by kennyxie Feb 2, 2010

The UART to Wifi Model is a UART/Wi-Fi converter which is embedded the TCP / IP protocol, IEEE 802.11 b/g protocol, and DATA converting firmware between UART and Wi-Fi, it has two 2.4GHz antenna connectors and a UART interface, supports several communication modes: TCP Server, TCP Client, and virtual-COM (virtual serial port) and works in the temperature ranging from minus 25 degrees Celsius to 75 degrees Celsius. This module provides evaluation kit and sample application software, makes designers speed up their project development.

FEATURES

  • UART to IEEE802.11b/g and 802.11b/g to UART
  • UART interface: TTL level
  • Wi-Fi modes: ad-hoc mode and Access Point mode
  • Wi-Fi Features: Access Point scanning and signal strength measurement
  • Wi-Fi Features: support WEP encryption
  • UART baud rate: 9600 ~ 115200
  • Support static IP or DHCP
  • Support three communication modes: TCP Server, TCP Client, virtual-COM (virtual serial port mode)
  • Automatic re-connection if TCP connection is lost
  • TCP socket modes (TCP Server, TCP Client): PC communicates with your appliance with SOCKET compatible software
  • Support virtual serial port mode. In this mode, user's PC software based on COM communication can still be used in the new wireless TCP/IP environment
  • Provide evaluation kit and sample application software to speed up your software development

The NXP LPC1300 ARM-CM3 Board is a brand new, cost-effective but high-performance evaluation tool of the ARM Cortex-M3 based LPC1300 controller family from NXP, allowing you to create and test working programs for this advanced architecture.

The board has a wide range of interfaces making it a great starting point for your next Cortex-M3 project.

Hardware Features

  • Processor: NXP LPC1343FBD48,151, based on ARM Cortex-M3 Core, 72MHz
  • On-Chip Memory: 32KB Flash & 8KB RAM
  • External Memory: 8KB EEPROM accessible via I2C bus
  • 1 x RS232 Interface
  • 1 x USB Interface
  • 1 x 20pins JTAG Interface
  • 2 x Push buttons (Reset, BOOT)
  • Board Size: 110mm x 140mm (4.33" x 5.5")
  • Supply Voltage: 5 Volts DC (provided by the USB bus of a PC)
  • Supply Current: 180mA typical, 200mA maximum
  • XTAL Frequency: 12 MHz

Development Environment
To compile, link and run applications on the LPC1300 Evaluation Board, you must install these products:

  • The RealView MDK-ARM which includes the µVision Debugger and provides several example programs for the LPC1300 Board.
  • The example programs and project files for the board are accompanied with CDROM, developed by Embest.

Software and Examples
Embest Provides plenty of software examples for this evaluation board, all in source code. These software examples can be debugged under the popular Keil MDK (Microcontroller Development Kit) environments, making practical use of the board's peripherals.
