This evening, I decided to make a universal Atmel AVR-based Arduino project, using the LM35 Temperature Sensor and my homebrewed DS1307-compatible RTC module. Rather than using an Arduino Shield-compatible board, I decided to use my homebrewed Arduino-compatible module interfaced with my DT2 (Alexan's Digital Trainer 2) for the embedded power supply. Earlier today, I added the I2C and serial port connection to my homebrewed Arduino-compatible module.
Since I am using the serial port (and not the LCD screen), I decided to make the date, time, and temperature human readable. The serial cable being used is a hacked Nokia CA-42 data cable (PL2303-based).
