Creating Robotic Speech Synthesis using BeagleBone Black and SpeakJet is a lot of FUN, especially if development is done using Python. This is a revision of my previous blog post, BeagleBone Black: Robotic Speech Synthesis from SpeakJet using Python. What's different in today's project, is the use of two (2) 'control' lines: one for SpeakJet reset, and the other one for knowing when SpeakJet is talking. I'm still using my BeagleBone Black and SpeakJet Voice Box Shield.
Looks pretty simple, right? Well, it is! As you can tell, I enjoy doing projects with speech synthesis!
My source code presumes you have enabled the serial UART devices (alternate link or this link) and you have install the Adafruit-BeagleBone-IO-Python library. By the way, I am using The Angstrom Distribution.
