Versatile switch sits just 0.9mm off PC board; features extended life span...
C&K Components has developed a new series of micro-miniature, side-actuated detect switches. Designated the GDS Series, the ultra low profile detect switches can be actuated from either the X or Y axes, providing maximum versatility in a variety of applications.
"Not only do the switches sit just 0.9mm off the PC board to meet size constraints, but the ability to actuate the switch from either direction combined with the extended life span make the switches ideal for a number of portable applications," said David Webber, product director for C&K Components. "The GDS Series switches are being deployed in consumer electronics, computers, medical equipment, mobile communications devices, and ATCA and MicroTCA equipment."
The GDS Series detect switches feature a low maximum actuation force of only 30 grams. Contact rating is 1mA @ 5VDC, with a maximum initial contact resistance of 1Ω and a minimum insulation resistance of 100MΩ between adjacent contacts. Minimum mechanical and electrical life is to 100,000 cycles and operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +70°C. The GDS Series switches are pick and place compatible and available in tape and reel packaging (5,000 pieces per reel). The switches are RoHS compliant and

Miniature slide switches available with multiple actuation options, termination configurations…
C&K Components has developed a series of compact two-position slide switches. Designated the OS Series, the RoHS-compliant miniature slide switches feature a flexible design for easy integration into standard and custom mobile communication devices and accessories, as well as test and measurement equipment, computer peripherals and network products.
“These slide switches were originally developed for a leading manufacturer of smart phones who required a two-output slide switch that utilized very little space on the PC board to conform to strict real estate constraints,” said Vinny Acampora, product manager for C&K Components. “The OS Series switches are a particularly ideal solution in that they are capable of ‘piggy backing’ on top of a micro-USB connector, and also feature multiple actuator options and termination configurations to meet any application-specific needs.”
The OS Series slide switches feature shorting or non-shorting contacts with gold or silver contact plating. Maximum contact resistance is 20mΩ, with a minimum insulation resistance of 100mΩ at 500VDC. Dielectric strength is 500VAC for 1 minute, and operating temperature ranges from -10ºC to +70ºC. Mechanical and electrical life for the OS Series slide switches is to 10,000 cycles. The switches are available in bulk packaging.
