Tech Primer
Solar inverter is a kind of device designed to convert the DC (Direct Current) power of a PV (Photovoltaic) array into AC (Alternating Current) power so as to provide power for home appliances and even feed the power grid. Solar inverter is a very important device in solar power system.
Solar inverter is made up of DC-DC booster and DC-AC converter, which are both controlled by a DSC. Generally the PV array can only produce low voltage DC power and achieve 15-40% conversion efficiency. The output power of PV array will be varying along with the change of sunlight intensity. In order to utilize sunlight energy more efficiently, solar inverter must support MPPT function that ensures the inverter is always working on the maximum power point. Usually, the output end of solar inverter is connected with power grid, so it is necessary to enable the real-time detection and anti-islanding protection on the inverter to ensure the safety of power grid. In addition, solar inverter should display the input/output voltage and current in real time.
