Tech Primer
Car Infotainment systems have become a very important part of a vehicle. A car Infotainment system includes multiple functions, such as Vehicle status, TV, CD/DVD, GPS (Global Position System), video imaging and Bluetooth for mobile phone support. TV and CD/DVD allows passengers to be entertained while on the move. GPS aids the driver in reaching their desired destination, with the some systems adjusting for real time traffic conditions. Inclusion of cameras allows drivers improved visibility around he periphery of the vehicle and can improve safety when manoeuvring or pulling out into traffic.
There are many companies who manufacture components to support such systems, such as ADI, TI, Freescale, NXP, and Renesas. Other semiconductor manufacturers like Maxim and ST also cn provide devices for inclusion in Infotainment systems.
