New gyroscopic sensors from Epson Toyocom have entered large-scale production, the California-based company has announced.

The firm claims that sensors up until now have offered either good stability and noise profiles, or a wide operating range, but never both at once.

With its XV-3700CB, Epson Toyocom says that it has overcome this problem, providing high levels of sensitivity and a wide detecting range at the same time.

The single package allows for simultaneous detection of high-speed and low-speed motion.

It is intended for use in a number of categories of device, including motion-sensitive human input equipment.

This could include three-dimensional gaming mice and similar controllers.

Alternatively, the developer argues that the sensors could allow remote-controlled helicopters and similar model vehicles to detect their own height above the ground.

The company previously announced the release of the XP-6000CA, available from October 2010, which provides sensing capabilities for water levels and other pressure-based characteristics.ADNFCR-1785-ID-800047736-ADNFCR
