A portable pulse oximeter is an instrument that measures blood oxygen saturation.
What differentiates this from traditional blood oxygen monitors is that it is done
noninvasively. Typically such an instrument has a pair of small LEDs at 660 nm and
Infrared (IR) wavelengths facing photodiodes through a translucent part of the patient's
body, usually a fingertip.
