Points and Ranking.
Your member ranking helps others get a sense of your helpfulness and activity in the community.
Everyone starts at level 0: New Member – The 555 and can rise through to level 10: Gordon Kidd Teal. Once you start answering and rating posts within the community, you'll automatically advance to higher levels based on the number of points you earn for your activity in each area of element14.
You can earn points toward a higher level for the following activities:
- Posting an answer
- Having your answer selected as the correct answer'
- Having your post rated as helpful
- Updating your status
You will lose points if your post is correctly marked and removed as being spam.
Here are the point cut-offs for each level:

5 | 1001 - 1500 |
6 | 1501 - 2000 |
7 | 2001 - 3000 |
8 | 3001 – 4000 |
9 | 4001 – 5000 |
10 | 5001 + |

The Top Contributors are selected based on some key traits that are demonstrated over time. We look for users who:
- Help others by frequently replying to questions with the correct answer
- Are generally helpful
- Are kind and respectful to others in the community

All your activity is tracked on your element14 profile, which is created when you register to element14. Click your name on the top right of any page once you have logged in, to see your profile. People can also click your username and avatar, which appears next to your posts, to view your profile.
