Alan is the Director of Global Distribution Marketing & Sales for Gennum Corporation. He joined Gennum in January 09 after devoting more than twenty years to semiconductor product marketing, Distribution channel & engineering program management at National Semiconductor, Siemens Semiconductor/Infineon & Motorola SPS. Alan is the author of numerous articles including various 8, 16 and 32-bit embedded microcontroller architectures, the AnalogMicrocontroller, high performance PowerWise Analog, high speed LVDS & Ethernet interfaces & numerous Partnership Marketing approaches both in the channel and with direct attach programs. Alan is recognised for the ability to develop new business opportunities and drive them to success through focused execution and entrepreneurial responsibility. Combining technical understanding with business acumen, strategic and analytical thinking and strong management and social skills.
Alan joined Motorola SPS technical marketing in 1989 & subsequently moved to Germany in 1994 to head the European MCU Automotive Product Marketing. From there, Alan moved to Infineon, USA in 1997 & was the Strategic Marketing manager for the TriCore 32-bit MCU-DSP architecture. In 1999, Alan joined National as the European Microcontroller Marketing manager to execute a highly successful thrust establishing National's COP8 MCU technology as an industry leader in future “smart analog” products. In January 2000, he took responsibility for driving National’s European Networking Division and in 2005, he then moved into the role of Channel Marketing Manager providing tactical and strategic direction for the European Distribution business. In 2006, Alan was responsible in creating National's WW Partnership Program where he took responsibility for developing partner programs centred around high performance PowerWise analog reference designs and system/sub-system solutions.
