Overview

The Discover Wi‐Fi add-on board (STM32F4DIS-WIFISTM32F4DIS-WIFI) is designed to provide an easy wireless connection to the ST  STM32F4DISCOVERY KitSTM32F4DISCOVERY Kit and support more overall software features through UART and SPI interface.  The Discover Wi‐Fi board is based on Murata SN8200SN8200 Network Controller Module, a low power, self-contained, certified Wi-Fi network controller module that provides simple serial-to-Wi-Fi connectivity to the internet. It integrates STM32 ARM Cortex-M3 MCU, Wi-Fi BB/MAC/RF IC, RF front end, clocks, and on-board antenna into a small form factor module.

 

 

The board includes a choice of UART and/or SPI host interfaces, as well as the standard 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n radio required for Wi-Fi. The board contains the software stack required to connect to a Wi-Fi network, and to set up all of the standard Wi-Fi parameters, such as encryption. Board dimensions are 68 mm x 48 mm x 1.6 mm. It is powered from an external power supply via the board’s 5V DC jack. It can also be powered by a mini-USB plug. The board can easily communicate with a variety of other host modules and devices which use UART as its communication method.

 

 

Discover Wi-Fi module supports SN8200 SNIC Serial-to-Wi-Fi software along with Muratas' EZ Web Wizzard and Broadcom WICED software. It can be used to enable wireless connectivity to the simplest products with minimal engineering resources. This module can be used for a variety of different applications, such as wireless sensor node, serial to Wi-Fi transceiver, Wi-Fi network controller, Wi-Fi gateway/bridges plus internet server.

 

 

The Discover Wi-Fi board (STM32F4DIS-WIFISTM32F4DIS-WIFI) is connected to the STM32F4DISCOVERYSTM32F4DISCOVERY board using the serial host interface (UART OR SPI) OR it can also be used as a standalone Wi-Fi station or network controller. Software demonstrations, documentation and EZ Web Wizard solution are provided to give your Wi-Fi project an easy and quick start.
