CAN
Originally developed by Bosch around 1985 CAN (Controller Area Network) is a high integrity peer-to-peer serial network for inter-connection of multiple devices operating at up to 1Mb/S. CAN is particularly well suited to interconnection of sensors, actuators, and similar devices in real-time systems. CAN is most frequently to be found implemented within the motor industry were it has offered significant benefits in reducing wiring complexity allowing cost and weight saving.
