SDU Vikings
University of Southern Denmark, SDU Vikings project is a student-run team which designs, builds and races Formula SAE cars.Formula SAE is an exciting international design competition first founded in USA. Over 400 universities worldwide compete each year by building, testing and racing, a Formula style racing car. Events are held around the world at race tracks like Silverstone, Hockenheim or California speedway.

Electronics Overview

The SDU Vikings racing team develops all the electronics for the race car, including the Engine Control Unit (ECU), Electronic Gear/Clutch control, Data Logger, Sensor interfaces, Battery control and Dashboard. All these units communicates with each other via a real-time network known as Ethernet PowerLink (EPL). All the units are based upon a standard node, also developed by SDU Vikings, which then plugs in to each units custom hardware.

 

Below is an overview of each unit/node on the network.
