Does not Ethernet transmission over twisted pair uses a similar techniques to correct for near-far signal interference between a the high output of the transmitter and the low level of the received signal? Was a similar technique was used with early undersea cables to correct for echo interference?

Wasn't this technique used on undersea cables to get rid of echos and with Ethernet cables to overcome near-far signal strength interference?

I love these simple solutions. When you find them, you smack yourself in the forehead and say "why didn't I think of that?"

That said, I have usually found it confusing to be talking and listening at the same time. Even with the best intention, you miss important issues. Now for data, this approach makes perfect sense.

There must be an underworld of patent legality stopping the use of inductive charging for devices.

The Palm/HP WebOS device line all had inductive charging tech built in, but no one else. The PowerMat is the only company offering OEM based inductive charging add-on for other devices.

Legality often inhibits progress.

For the most part, we all do what is easiest to make and works first. The more elegant solutions come much later.

I have not heard much about this tech since I read about it here in Feb, 2011. We need more progress, faster.

I could really make this work. I have a big skylight over my living room table, so it would get power most of the day.

Definitely need to keep my eye out for these things, assuming I can get my wife to agree.

It's amazing how some of the most simple solutions are right in front of us and we cannot see them. Its like watching a magic trick, then seeing it explained and you see that it was obvious.

This solution reminds me how we did gated laser pulses to see things at different distances through smoke and fog.

Really cool solution.
