Teemu,
That doesn't sound right at all, I've been on here for a while and not seen anything like that. Any chance you could send a copy of that e-mail to communitymanager@premierfarnell.com, and the team at Farnell can then investigate it.
Thanks,
Wendy ![]()
Hi Teemu,
Sorry about that. We do try our hardest to stop these spammers by deleting their accounts when we receive complaints. I've been on element14 for over a year now and have only received one mail like this. Unfortunately it is impossible to inspect and verify that everyone who joins element14 is a professional engineer
Ally
Hi Teemu,
Do you mean the spammer has been deleted? The community manager email address works for me,
Ally
Hi Teemu,
I apologize for the inconvenience of the spam message you received. As Ally mentioned, we have several checks in place to try to prevent spam, but if a member registers an account on the site they are then able to send private messages to other members. We are working on a way for you to be able to block unwanted messages.
In the meantime, if you do receive unwanted messages, please email them to communitymanager@premierfarnell.com (this is NOT a member of the community - you would have to send it as an email message) or you can send a private message to me - copy in the text you received and the name of the user who sent it and we will block that user's account for violating the terms of use of the site.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Christy Zurcher

Hi Christy,
I sent an e-mail through earlier today regarding inappropriate blogs on Element-14.
As an EDE support and colaberation site, I dont think its apropriate to be selling non EDE products here.
Anyone disagree?
Jeff,
Funny you should mention that, I sent a privae e-mail to Nicole about that same matter. I don't think that's really appropriate behaviour either, and I have also reported it as abuse (although I could not work out exactly what term it might be breaking). I''d be interested to see how this goes...

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for reporting this. We encourage our members to report any content they feel is inappropriate, as Wendy indicated she has done, using the "report abuse" feature of the site. Unfortunately this feature isn't yet available on private messages as in Teemu's case, but it does appear on all discussions, documents, blogs, and events.
We rely on our members to tell us what they feel is not appropriate for the site and then our moderators take it from there. In some cases we are able to work with the content author to make changes and repost it, and in some cases the content is permanently removed from the site.
I would encourage members to use the report abuse functionality over emailing communitymanager but we do check and respond to member feedback in either case.
Thanks again for reporting this issue.
Sincerely,
Christy Zurcher
