Radio JOVE project

Hi.

I am going to be starting the Radio JOVE project (http://radiojove.gsfc.nasa.gov/index.html) with some kids that I work with, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this project and could offer any advice. I have some experience with amateur radio and putting together recievers but as some of the children I will be working with have no experience with this, and have probably never seen a soldering iron let alone used one I'm not sure quite where to start with them. Any advice would be greatly welcome.

Thank you.

The frequency range would point towards using a communications receiver, or one of the dedicated ones such as this from Fox Delta. There is plenty of documentation for the contruction of the antennas, which are just dipoles. It may be a good idea contacting a local ham club, as the expertese will available from them.

I'll bring this topic up on Thurday night's meeting of the club I'm a member of, as we have a wide range of interests.

There is a book Amateur Radio Astronomy ISBN 1-905086-16-4 that you might want to get hold of in the meantime.
