Load Google Translate As many of you will appreciate, the entry into force of the RoHS Recast (2011/65/EU) brought with it many changes from the original RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC). However, many of these changes were part of later alterations from the original proposal for the RoHS Recast (December 2008) to the version finally accepted in June this year.
The Bio Intelligence Service (also known as BIS, but not the same as the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills) has been appointed by the European Commission to conduct a study looking into the impact of the final RoHS Recast, specifically:
• To provide data and background information to define rules for complying with RoHS concentration limits*
• To conduct an impact assessment with regards to scope changes between the RoHS recast proposal and the final text of the Directive (specifically around the definition of ‘homogeneous material)*
• Based on the results of the latter, to assess the needs for further scope amendments.*

If you want to take part in the stakeholder consultation, you can fill out the questionnaire on the BIS website.
