Load Google Translate WRAP, the Waste & Resources Action Plan, have released a set of protocols dealing with the reuse of WEEE.
The PAS141 standard governs the reuse of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), an instrumental part of the WEEE ideology, where reuse of EEE is preferable to recycling or disposal.
The standard, which is published by the British Standards Institute (BSi), specifies the requirements for managing the preparation of used and waste EEE.
The standard has just been updated and a set of WRAP protocols published with instructions for preparing specific types of e-waste. They include guidance on product safety and assessing if pre-owned EEE is still fit for purpose.
It is hoped that clear instruction will increase the viability of managing WEEE for reuse and, by doing so, create a much more efficient WEEE management process.
As usual for BSi the standard isn't free - this one costs £65.
What an outrage !!!!
Why should we have to pay to find out what new silly rules are to be forced upon us ?
If software can be open source why not specifications (at the very least those effectively enforced by legislation).
