Load Google Translate Talks on Tuesday in Brussels, between the European Parliament and member states failed to reach an agreement on the WEEE recast (WEEE 2).
A report from ENDS Europe today revealed that no further detail had been released from the meeting other than the talks had made ‘some movement’ since the last trialogue meeting held in November. ENDS Europe also report that a parliament source said ‘it was not very surprising the EU lawmakers could not conclude their negotiations this week given how different their positions were in the first place’.
Another trialogue meeting is scheduled for the 20th December, and hopes remain high that an agreement will be reached. If no agreement is reached, the recast will likely be referred to the Conciliatory Council who will try and reach a compromise position. If no compromise can be reached within six weeks, the entire WEEE recast will be scrapped.
