Have you got a puzzle for us to consider while we unwind over Christmas?

For a starter let's take 0.999 recurring - that is 0.999999999999999999 etc equals 1

 

x= 0.999 recurring

10x = 9.999 recurring

 

10x - x = 9x = 9

 

Therefore x=1 or 0.99 recurring = 1

 

P.S. The equals sign was invented by an Englishman
