Re: Cheapest PCB makers, low volume

After much frustration trying to answer this question I believe I have managed to find a solution. I just announced a 1-off PCB service for DIYers that allows you to order exactly one board. The boards are made by a subsidiary of a reputed European firm to which I go for my own boards. A 2x2 inch board, double sided, both sides soldermask silkscreen and legend, immersion gold finished, will cost you all of US$6. No setup, no minimum. For more info please visit my website www.audesine.com and look under the "Proto PCBs" tab.

    Wow, Ram.

This seems like a nice service if your prices will continue to be that low.

Just a questions about shipping: When you say that the PCB is manufactored in Europe, will the PCBs then be shipped to us from Europe too?

I have long been looking for an inexpensive PCB manufactorer in Europe, but haven't been able to find one that could compete with the Chinese prices.

    Thanks for the interest Thomas.

The PCBs are made by the India-based subsidiary of a German firm - they will be made in Bangalore, just a few miles away from where I live. I have done some stomach-churning research on PCB pricing and concluded (as you must have) that you could not possibly expect this kind of price if you had them *made* in Europe. I will ship them by registered post from India which is  trackable.

The prices right now are more or less break-even if I made just one panel. However, if there is sufficient interest (and I believe there should be) I can certainly maintain these prices. I intend to maintain them for quite a while as long as I can break even. The prices I believe are even cheaper than Chinese for 1-offs.

Well, so the PCBs will not be shipped inside of Europe?

The problem is that we have to pay Import duties whenever we receive products outside of Europe. So if I'm going to get another PCB supplier than the Chinese one we have not, it should be because it was around the same price but located in Europe.

Got your point. Yes, you would have to pay import duty. The postal package will have a CN 22 form that declares its value. If you're ordering multiple pieces, chances are that my service would not be that useful. The value is highest when you need exactly one PCB and no more.

I've had decent experiences with PCBCART at www.pcbcart.com , used them for many runs small and large.

Their slightly clunky web site has a quote function so you can enter your specs and see the price and qty breakdown quickly before ordering anything.

I'm not connected to them in any way, just a regular customer of them! From what I can tell they are a front end for a few pcb factories, and take care of low run orders, file checking and online orders etc.

    Cheers,

    Marc

I'll second SeeedStudio.  I got qunatity 10 of 5x10cm 2-layer boards for $30.34 total shipped.   It took about 3 weeks to arrive.  They offered DRC and CAM spec files for EAGLE, so it was a breeze to send my layout.

If you can wait for batch service like this, then I highly recommend.
