There is high risk to life of humans in electric power distribution systems, Danger to human life’s, damage to infrastructure etc, the reason for all these issues is Electric arc, the reason is not having enough awareness, negligence, poor maintenance, insulation failures, electrical spikes, animal interferences etc. Arc flash is a major electrical hazards where 10kA /480v arc flash = 8 dynamite sticks, there have een number of incidents reported daily around the globe for damage to human and systems due to electrical arc flash. So what looks to first and formost solution is PPE personal protection equipments to be used in these areas, there is no technology as such to prevent this as of now, conventionally circuit breakers, fuses, arc resistant switchgears, crowbar systems were and are being used which fully does not eliminate this issue.

Recently in emtech India event participated by GE demonstrated their innovation of eliminating this arc flash by detecting through a optical sensor at which instant the large arc current is transferred to containment using a ablative plasma gun. I just felt like sharing this to our Technology world.

The performance was tremendous with 15x faster arc transfer within 200microsec, 20% energy absorption no dead shorting, reusable containment which is cost effective. GE termed it as GE Arc Vault protection system and video demonstrated its capabilities. Not sure if any other such products have been developed in market ? or only GE is sole designer, let me know your coments if any on same !!!

Integration of cameras in mobile phones has been seen as boom in market since a decade, we are here with most consumer market captured with camera solutions asking for microscopic like resolution, see through(medical), auto trigger zero start & shutter delay , high speed (burst, video, no blur) etc. Image sensors market has exponentially grown from 100000 units to 2000000 to 2500000 units in 2010/11.

The future of imaging with emerging technologies are in the field of medical imaging, entertainment, user interfaces, industrial vision, movie making, video conferencing  etc. In the field of medical imaging the technology seems to see its forecast with self evaluation of individual’s eye to determine abnormalities or need for care using hand held portable devices. More specific applications are in building security systems, robotics, medical imaging techniques etc, the need of the hour is to work with camera sensing such as human like performance, recognizing, finding objects, image search etc

But certainly there are questions so as how will the next generation cameras change the future ?  What else application can these type of cameras be used on, any guess ?

Future of computing !!!

Transistors have been increasing on a chip from few to millions to enhance speed and performance capabilities so is Cores for processing which for today is around 64 cores power which will double every year over year in another 5 years and so, hence cloud computing comes in picture where computing resources are shared to the clients on request for their large requirements as the pace of clients being increasing due to increasing traffic of web utilizers, companies like tweeter and facebook can be an examples who boomed to attract clients, so in future we will not get any cloud racks but cloud containers to serve the larger clients so its like millions of cores available on clouds systems, applications would be in IT companies, Systems companies, software and tools companies, embedded systems companies etc. But there are challenges such as scalability , interconnecting, Operating systems for multicores, software programming challenges. Scalability & interconnecting challenges is referred with muticore devices with bus to mesh systems . So multicores , manycores and clouds are disruptive technologies, many challenges exist, its time and need to rethink of computer systems, buses to meshes, what after windows and Linux ? etc.
