Croatia moves to introduce REACH authorisation measures into national law

In continued efforts to be in line with wider EU regulations, draft regulations on the implementation of REACH have been published by Croatia, specifying six substances.

The substances to be restricted were added to the REACH authorisation in early 2011: 5-tert-butyl-2,4,6-trinitro-m-xylene (musk xylene); 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (MDA); hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD); bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP); benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP); and dibutyl phthalate (DBP).

Regulations will enter force 8 days following publication, and authorisation will be required for marketed substances after their sunset dates pass (these range from 2014 to 2015).

Croatia has also released draft regulations on the import and export of chemicals and a wider update on hazardous chemicals which require authorisation.

More information can be found on the Croatian Ministry of Health website
