element14 Introduces B&K Precision High-Performance Benchtop DC Electronic Loads
element14 has introduced the B&K Precision’s 8600 Series programmable DC electronic loads which deliver the performance of modular system in a compact benchtop form factor.
This new series includes three models with loads ranging from 150W to 250W, which can sink current up to 60A at wide voltage ranges up to 500V with fast transient operation speeds up to 25 kHz along with built-in battery and LED test mode functions. These high-performance DC loads are suitable for testing and evaluating a variety of DC sources such as DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, batteries, LED drivers, and photovoltaic arrays.
While most electronic loads can regulate their input current or voltage using constant current (CC) mode or constant voltage (CV) mode, the 8600 Series can additionally offer constant resistance (CR) and constant power (CW) modes. These high-performance loads can also provide transient, list and automatic test functions for more complex loading profiles of varying load levels, switching times, and operation modes.
The 8600 Series features a bright dual-line display that combines a high resolution and high accuracy 16-bit measurement system, which allows users to view both measured and set parameters simultaneously. The powerful feature set also includes adjustable current slew rates, built-in rise and fall measurement, and voltage turn-on capabilities to start and stop discharging of a power source at a specified voltage level.
Standard GPIB, USB, and RS232 interfaces supporting USBTMC and SCPI communication protocols are included for remote control and programming. The 8600 Series also offers terminals on the rear for external triggering, input On/Off control, voltage fault monitoring, remote sense, and external analogue current control and monitoring.
LabVIEW drivers are provided together with free application software for front panel emulation, generation and execution of test sequences, and logging measurements via a PC. This software can be used with NI's Data Dashboard app to create custom dashboards on smartphones and tablets for additional monitoring functions.
Available with free next day delivery the 8600 Series models come with a three-year warranty and also offer a comprehensive range of protection modes: overvoltage (OVP), overcurrent (OCP), overpower (OPP), overtemperature (OTP), and local/remote reverse voltage (LRV/RRV) protection.
