Following the recent global agreement with Altium, a leading supplier of PCB design software solutions, element14 is now exclusively stocking Altium’s CircuitStudio software in the element14 Design Center. The software rounds out element14’s CAD offering and enables the company to fulfill the vast majority of software needs for professional design engineers.

“We were delighted to announce our strategic partnership with Altium in November,” said David Shen, Group Chief Technology Officer, Premier Farnell, “and we’re even more excited to provide CircuitStudio as a tangible outcome of that agreement which will benefit customers. CircuitStudio provides a simple yet powerful EDA software with features and functionalities to complete a complex PCB design.”

The software features a streamlined and easy-to-use interface to get designs done faster and easier. With native 3D PCB editing, users can visualize, navigate and edit their boards as they appear in the real world and take mechanical constraints into account. CircuitStudio has powerful and professional capabilities for schematic capture, PCB layout and routing, and local storage allows users to manage projects on their machines, the way it works for them. It also offers a vast component library of more than 350,000 parts.

“We are elated to partner with element14 as the exclusive distributor for CircuitStudio,” said Lawrence Romine, Global Director New Business Development, Altium. “Their customers now have access to a professional PCB design tool that further enhances the element14 PCB design software offering. With CircuitStudio from Altium incorporating native 3D editing, interactive routing including push and shove, and a library of over 350,000 parts, the product boasts an industry-leading feature set and affordable price point, placing CircuitStudio perfectly between top and bottom rungs of the current PCB design software market.”

The CircuitStudio offering is part of phase two of the element14 Design Center, which involves creating a software store so customers can buy and receive licenses online for a wide range of engineering software.

The element14 Design Center is a new resource for engineers offering the most comprehensive range of development tool information alongside product details and supporting material. The site also provides rich application and product information, including 360 degree images, videos and downloads, which are supplemented by stock availability and price, manufacturer details and engineer comments from element14’s leading community. When it officially launches this year the software store will be an integral part of the Design Center, hosting some of the world’s leading design software providers in one place.
