Farnell Colleagues cycle to Chicago to raise vital funds for Epilepsy Research UK

main

Epilepsy Research UK is delighted to announce that a group of colleagues from our long-standing corporate partner Farnell have completed a virtual cycle challenge from their office in Leeds to their Head Office in Chicago during October 2020. Over the period, Farnell colleagues pedalled 4,000 miles and raised £2,200.

Chief Executive Maxine Smeaton says “We are so grateful to Farnell for their incredible support over the past 15 years. This is such a fantastic way of continuing to drive innovations for people with epilepsy during lockdown.”

Simon Meadmore, Global Head of IP&E at Farnell says “This year has proven challenging for everyone, yet we are aware that for charities such as Epilepsy Research UK, the challenge they face every day does not go away just because we are dealing with a global pandemic. We have a longstanding relationship with the charity, having raised £175,000 over our 15 years of partnership, and were committed to supporting them again this year. Our virtual cycling challenge was a great way to raise essential funds, whilst promoting health and wellbeing for our team.”

The virtual cycling challenge was also supported by Farnell’s CPC business, who sponsored the event and provided prizes to participants.

The support from Farnell came during the month where Epilepsy Research UK launched the ‘#ALifeInterrupted’ campaign to highlight the disruptive, interruptive impact of epilepsy. The campaign also raises awareness of the inequalities in research funding of one of the most common serious neurological conditions as well as calls on people affected by epilepsy to help shape the future of research.
