Raspberry Pi Professional Expert Day in Germany shows increasing interest in use for the Raspberry Pi for professional applications
Farnell element14, the Development Distributor, hosted a customer event in Germany last week, focusing on professional and industrial applications of the Raspberry Pi single-board computer.
The half-day event, which was organised with the support of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, was held in Stuttgart-Böblingen on the 13th June 2018, and featured presentations from customers who have developed Raspberry Pi based solutions in different sectors.
“As the Development Distributor we seek to support customers as they develop their products for market, whether that is providing the right products, expertise or opportunities for customers to learn from their collective experiences. This event provided a forum for customers to share their experiences developing and designing professional solutions based on the Raspberry Pi.” says Dr. Marc Schacherer, Regional Sales Director for DACH at Farnell element14: “Customers were able to talk with experts about the opportunities, challenges and benefits of using Raspberry Pi, and complementary products, for professional solutions.”
Over 65 customers attended the event to see three Farnell element14 customers present their experiences developing professional solutions:
- Exceet: a blood pressure measurement device
- The University of Dusseldorf: German Government fundedhome security solution
- Digital Concepts: a Polyrack-designed gateway system for EnOcean devices.
The event also included a presentation by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and practical workstation-based sessions where delegates could discuss projects with the presenting companies including technical details and build-in components. The event closed with a Q&A session.

Due to the high level of interest in the event and feedback from customers who attended, Farnell element14 is now considering a further event for customers who did not obtain a place due to over-subscription.
