There is a fun Science Museum exhibition running currently (until September 3rd 2017) called Robots. It is free to visit the museum but this particular exhibition has a charge but it is worth it.   The exhibition is split into five themes of Marvel, Obey, Dream, Build and Imagine. There is also a series of additional Robot-themed events spaced out from now until September, such as movie screenings and panel discussions. I got the chance to visit last Sunday, and there is an 8-minute co ...

Simulating a Robot XMP-2

Posted by shabaz Top Member Nov 21, 2015
Introduction XMP-2 is a small mobile platform intended for robotics experiments. It is constructed from aluminium and uses a few methods described earlier for high accuracy on smooth surfaces. Check out the coin test in this video: XMP-2 Practice Run   It is not always possible to build hardware at the same time as the software, and much time can be saved if software developers can use a simulated robot instead of real hardware. A free simulation package called Gazebo was previously brie ...
After having built a couple of small wheeled platforms (a crude attempt called XMP-1 and a slightly better one called XMP-2) I was curious what simulation tools were out there specifically geared toward robotics design. This is just a quick summary of one of the simulation tools that are available, called Gazebo.   Gazebo was incredibly easy to get going – a single command line will install it onto Linux, and when run it is easy to add bits and pieces from the toolbar and get going. ...
Note: This is part two of a three-part guide. Part 1 - Getting Started Guide for the Infineon RGB LED Shield Part 2 - Building a White LED Lamp (you are here!) Part 3 - Building a Full Color Lamp Introduction I needed some lighting for my lab, and having played with Infineon’s RGB LED Shield I was confident high quality lighting could be achieved with it. This short post is a consolidation of the earlier findings put into practice to build an LED lamp.   In brief, the Infineon RGB ...
Apparently this week was 'London Technology Week' (it is a trademark!) which seems a contrived week to be honest, although it is partly organized by London&Partners which is a registered company but appears to have some relationship to the Greater London Authority i.e. the Mayor of London. Excel London hosted some events, in particular a technology show called Interop London. At the same time Excel hosted a 'Protection and Management 2015' show too, which included security (people, property ...
