Part of my project with the Arduino Portenta requires some lighting and I wanted to be able to individually control them. I asked a model railroad mate and he suggested NeoPixels. They only require 3 wires, run on 5v and can be controlled from a range of microcontrollers. The standard ones do RGB values but there is also a variant with an additional white LED. I found some on a small breakout that did RGBW and could be bought in packs of 10.   After experimenting with a couple of differe ...
Since December 2020, I've been dabbling in satellite communications. I've successfully captured SSTV images, FM and APRS data from the International Space Station. Most of this was accomplished using a handheld transceiver and portable Yagi antenna. This is a Slow Scan TV image (SSTV) I captured. Then I discovered the SatNOGS project. https://satnogs.org/ "A global network of satellite ground stations, designed as an open source participatory project." https://wiki.satnogs.org/Main_Pa ...
