Over the past few weeks I have been working on a new Server/Client implementation and finally, there is a result from the work. Pictured above are two screenshots from the app, in addition to the web monitoring page (monitor.php)   Below is a diagram detailing how the different parts of the server system interact with eachother. How it all works Uniform Node The Uniform Node (Electric Imp) contacts Processdata.php over HTTP, transmitting data in POST headers. The fields trans ...
Hello everybody,   Just a quick update to ask a question and let you guys see some stuff: First off, you can take a look at this. This is a webpage that will show you values of the current different sensors on the electric Imp. If it is running, you should be able to refresh occasionally and see the values change   Second, a question. These values are reported as an Analog value by the imp, which is described below:   "Analog inputs return values in the range 0 - 65,535 (16 bits) ...
Small progress but with some critical additions -- we'll let the pictures do the talking.   Found an old belt, attached the Electric imp & ECG module to it. Pretty neat way of having a compact way for the player to wear it. ...
Afternoon (or morning, or evening ) to all of you fine folks today. Two sections to this short blog post today, so have a short and simple read.   Since I started working on SFH, I am amazed at what I have learned. I have already accomplished far more than I initially thought I would and I definitely have more to learn. In the meantime however, on with the blog post!   Physical Changes Since the Electric Imp arrived on my doorstep I have been busy working on getting components read ...
A USPS parcel arrived through the letterbox today, and inside it was this: A nice little red box - nice touch And what was inside the box? These two fellas. The electric Imp breakout and the electric Imp itself. So, off I went, happy that I had something to work on - plugged it in and...   A torrent of colours exploded from the side of the card!   Eeeeh - no. Nothing happened.   I thought initially that the card/breakout was broken - however, reading the manual (like a ...
Yes, it says Week 6, no, we did not time travel - I am just making up for some missed updates.   We have hit another roadblock - my Velleman K8200 does not work, so no more printed enclosure. Anyway, while we wait for some of the last parts to arrive, I have been working like mad on the app for SFH. I finally have something to show you. I am aware that the app is only laid out to support one uniform node - I plan to implement multiple nodes later. Note the values on the "Overview" sc ...

SFH: Resources

Posted by hawkeyethehacker Jan 31, 2015
In this document, there are links to resources used in the Safe Field Hockey entry. This ranges from datasheets to Github Repositories. Take a look - there is some interesting stuff.   Project Code Repositories All of the code for the SFH Client and Server are located in a single GitHub organisation. Click here to access it.   Code Documentation The Client and Server have some documentation that may be of interest to anyone wanting to build the code themselves. Client Wiki Serve ...
Yes, it says Week 5, no, we did not time travel - I am just making up for some missed updates. So, today I got bored, and now having the ECG evaluation board I decided to take measurements and make a little enclosure for it.   Modelled in Autodesk 123D Design, Rendered in Autodesk Showcase 2014   I am planning to expand this to enclose the Electric Imp breakout board and the charging circuit. In the meantime, I still wonder how Farnell is planning to source the components from Spark ...
So, a massive box arrived today and it was full of lots of juicy development boards. Jam packed. Was it worth the wait and stress of customs? - HECK YES. Today we'll be covering the Oscilloscope, which is a Tektronix TBS1202B-EDU. Upon first glance, the box is much bigger than you would initially think. Lets venture into the contents. These are the standard Tektronix Passive Probes. they are fairly solid and feel like they'll stand up to a lot of use. For my first Oscilloscope, and my f ...
Issue is resolved   Today I received an email from UPS.   It was about Customs.   That wonderful thing that everyone hates.   To put it bluntly, the kit for Sudden Impact is stuck at a UK airport and I am being questioned for information that I don't have. Farnell is trying to sort this out on my behalf, but I am afraid that if everything does not work out as it should this'll be my last update. Yes, I am probably worrying too much about this, and everything will probabl ...
Meet the Raspberry Pi B+ - in a nutshell, it is basically pure awesome. It has more GPIO, double the USB ports of a standard model B, a better layout of connectors on the board, what more could you possibly want?   Today we'll be setting up the B+ in general, and installing Node.JS on it. We will also be adding a Websocket library via npm, node's package manager.   We will be using Win32 Disk Imager to flash our MicroSD card. We'll also be using the latest Raspbian, which was r ...
Hi all,   I am extremely sorry I failed to produce the past two weeks worth of blogging. As a matter of fact, I am still awaiting many of the project critical parts, and I am, in fact, currently unwell.   The combination of both of these things have made it extremely difficult for me to make any progress, but I hope to get the soldering iron heated back up soon.   Thanks for your support and help,   Josh ...
This is supplemental to the main Safe Field Hockey posts. This can be skipped More stuff arrived today!   To those wondering why a 3.5mm jack is involved, the ECG Leads have a 3.5 mm 3 pole connector already on them. As they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" ...
The Safe Field Hockey project is a compact and modular design that can be modified to fit all sizes of human (or other animal, if that's the kind of thing you do ), by simply removing and adding pieces. An example of this is the chest strap that holds the pack, which is located on the left of the body, above the hip.   I'll split the explanations of the system into two parts, the base and the uniform.   Base The overall composition of the Base unit depends on the school's or sport c ...
This is supplemental to the main Safe Field Hockey posts. This can be skipped   Living in the UK is awesome. Why, you may ask?   Simple! Because our parts come very quickly, which is awesome for a time restrained project such as Sudden Impact.   In the mystical white parcel today: Breadboard - Will be used for prototyping circuit work that will be required Right Angle Headers - Will be soldered onto a breakout board... That belongs to what? Find out soon! Micro SD Card - ...
