These Starter Kits highlight Avnet's certified, production-ready Sphere MT3620 modules based on the highly integrated MediaTek MT3620AN tri-core Wi-Fi SoC device. Embedded user applications targeting it’s 500 MHz ARM Cortex-A7 application processor are built and debugged using Microsoft’s popular Visual Studio IDE.
The SoC includes two 200 MHz ARM Cortex-M4F MCU cores to meet real-time I/O requirements, plus a rich variety of on-chip peripherals (GPIO, UART, I2C, SPI, I2S, PWM, ADC) that can be assigned to any of the three processor cores. The kit includes: A carrier board with Azure Sphere MT3620 module, USB cable, and Quick Start Card.
Azure Sphere MT3620 Starter Kit 2.0 is an upgraded version of the versatile prototyping platform based on the globally certified Avnet Azure Sphere MT3620AN module. Full detail of the 2.0 Starter Kit enhancements are tabled in the Hardware User Guide, but highlights include the following:
- Click sockets have different mapping to ISU serial peripherals to facilitate the use of optional Ethernet and BLE Click boards
- ISU2 pinout has been expanded to 4-pins, facilitating more flexible interface options
- The Pmod and Grove connectors can now be configured for different interface types
- Powerdown mode as well as RTC battery backup are now supported
- A wider voltage input range is supported with more robust EMC protection.
- The optional OLED display now has better placement in the central part of the PCB
