Hi everyone,     As mentioned in the video, my name is Sylvie and I would love to participate in this contest. I have worked in multiple projects throughout my university undergraduate degree and I am super excited to work on more projects in the future. I hope you all enjoyed the video     Sylvie   ...
Hi, I'm Clarissa Kleveno. I'm a self taught hardware enthusiast, video maker, and average white girl. I make educational content/ internet goofs about electronics among other things.   ...
So I ran into a little problem programming the Arduino Leonardo via the Arduino-CLI on the Raspberry PI and I thought I'd share what I did to make it work. Seems like there is a program called ModemManager that pings the Leonardo and prevents uploading.   When googling the error I got to this thread on github for Arduino IDE problems on Linux distributions, which Raspbian for Raspberry PI is. https://github.com/arduino/Arduino/issues/7690   #remove the troublemaker sudo apt-get remove ...

Hello all, Here's my video for the #badass Women Makers and Engineers Contest, look forward to working with you guys ...
I'm trying out johnny-five on the Raspberry PI. It's a framework to build robots and since I'm a web developer per day, I should get along with JS. Anyway, you need to be up to date with node and npm, further than the packages you get delivered with your PI. Seems to work fine on a Raspberry PI 4, although there's no mention in the docs of it.   # make sure to be ready and fresh, here's how you update node sudo npm install -g n sudo n stable # the node package manager needs an update too s ...

Hi Everyone,   I am Vidya Mohanan. I hail from the Indian state of Kerala. I am a Computer Science Engineer and currently work in an IT company. I always loved to tinker with electronics as part of my projects which I used to work during my college days. The Element 14 Women makers and engineers contest seems like a good opportunity for me to get back into my hobby.   Please find my audition video here:     Regarding my previous project, I have worked on a gesture-contr ...
Here's my audition tape, it's a bit rushed! I got an idea in my head then really wanted to film it all in one go tonight. I filmed it on my phone but I did use a tripod ...
Skin conductance, galvanic skin response, electrodermal activity: What is the phenomenon that describes how electricity is conducted across human skin? In this video, we'll take a quick look at the history and the mechanism of electrodermal activity, how it's used, and whether we can trust the results. If you want to know how a lie detector works, how a love tester works, or how an e-meter works, then sit down for a quick primer! ...
I'm a bit of a sucker for retro electronic novelties, and one of the most prolific is the "love tester" device that--in various forms--hearkens back to the early 20th century and the heyday of the penny arcade. These were often an electromechanical device that used some algorithm (or even just a random number generator) to ring bells, flash lights, and indicate either a fortune or--more often--a rating of one's romantic prowess. In the 1960s, Nintendo released their first (in what would prove to ...
I am, by no means, a software engineer. My code is crude at best, but it works   /* * Project Eros * CC-BY-SA Matthew Eargle * AirborneSurfer Productions * for element14 Presents * * airbornesurfer.com * element14.com/presents */ #include <Servo.h> Servo needle;   // create servo object "needle" to move the needle // declare global variables const int numReadings = 10; int readings[numReadings];      // the readings from the analog inpu ...
It's a pretty simple vector design for the face of the unit if you want to build something similar. The STL file is for the needle that attaches to the servo motor. ...
