It’s been student day today and to celebrate Analog Devices have been on our stand all week demonstrating the ADALM1000, a complete low cost learning ecosystem for mixed-signal circuit designs, supported with interactive data visualisation and analysis software. The ADALM1000 is ideal for teachers, students, electronic design engineers, hobbyists and makers that can benefit from a portable, low cost SMU that works with users own computers or laptops.  The kit will be available to buy ...

The Dev Kit Dares vending machine is proving a real hit.  Periodically from the stand will come yelps or cheers or chest slapping followed by a round of applause as someone wins one of the 500 dev kits we are giving away on the stand.   One of the development kits we have on the stand this year is the Atmel SAMA5D4 Xplained Board which includes the Neon coprocessor for advanced performance including a HW video decoder and advanced security features.   Aimed at design and professi ...

Embedded World - Day One

Today I have walked 7.02km according to my smartphone!  Not surprising as the exhibition is housed over 5 halls around 50,000 m2!  I arrived around 8am local time.   Our stand this year is in Hall 5.  Here it is at the start of the day.   Our stand is designed to showcase our expertise in early stage design.  We know software is key to design which is why we have recently added Altium’s CircuitStudio PCB software to our portfolio and visitors to our stand ca ...

I've arrived!   It only seems five minutes since we were last in the beautiful city of Nuremberg for Embedded World 2014.  Yet a whole 12 months later, here we are again and its grey and chilly. I will again be blogging about what we are showing on our stand as well as what I find of interest around the rest of the show.   Our stand this year has been designed to showcase our proposition around early stage design with the industry’s widest range of development kits. Key dev ...

Embedded World - Day 3

It’s the last day of Embedded World, student day.  The day of a kaleidoscope of hair colours!  I saw a great demo today by Silicon Labs of a sensor board for activity monitoring.  The combination of sensors connected to a low power microcontroller included Infra Red, UV sensor, temperature and humidity.     The demo they showed me was of a board with a monitor which was controlled by gesture – perfect for wearable tech such as fitness and measuring sun exp ...

We’re back in Nuremberg for Embedded World 2014.  It doesn’t seem like a year ago we were last here but it’s great to be back! Embedded World - Day Two

Today I managed to get off the Farnell element14 stand to visit the rest of the exhibition.  I saw some really cool stuff and equally some random things.   Firstly, I am not an engineer myself but I praise the women making a career in the industry.  I am sure many of these women would not want their gender highlighted in such an obvious way but I really liked the pink circuit boards I saw on one of the stands.   Gesture control is going to be a huge technology for 2013 an ...
The first day of Embedded World 2013 has been and gone in the blink of an eye. Or the blink of a Pi. Today we celebrated on the stand what has truly been a phenomenal year for the category defining microcomputer Raspberry Pi. It was one year ago today that Farnell element14 launched the Raspberry Pi computer at Embedded World 2012 and I heard a rather amusing story that some 12 hours before its launch it was in a pub in Leeds. Farnell element14's excellent logistics and delivery ensured it reach ...
