For our local community theatre group in Sydney, we are currently putting on the musical LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS about the man-eating plant that comes to New York to take over the world.   As part of the production, to show long boring days in the florist shop, it requires an analog clock to be spun quickly to show passing of time.   Rather than designing to motor control circuit from basic electronics, I had the great idea to use a Lego Mindstorms EV3 robotics kit to drive the motor. ...
Scary Mirror - Table of ContentsScary Mirror Part 1 |  Scary Mirror Part 2  |  Scary Mirror Part 3 |  Scary Mirror Part 4 Return to Halloween   |  Enrico's VCP Profile     It's time to set up and write down some software. Before coding I have completed the setting of the mirror to put it in the right position adding some more robustness to the structure. Finishing the Structure The mirror will be placed in vertical position, maybe en plain-air or ...
This project aims to create an animatronic alien creature from the Crab nebula. The “Crabster” has a crab-lobster body and a pacumpkin head with lollipop eyeballs. This animatronic machine turned into a giant mechanical design challenge with forty-four 3D printed parts, 20 of which were moving parts. The project was intended to have real engineering challenges as well as make an interesting Halloween machine. Some of the challenges were: to design the machine to snap together with ...

Spooky Sensor

Posted by dthornburg Oct 29, 2018
As Halloween approaches, one great project is to use a distance sensor to have a MakerBit play spooky sounds when someone reaches their hand into a container of treats!   This project uses either the MakerBit R since this is the easiest unit to accommodate the ultrasonic distance sensor (model HC-SR04) found in the Elgoo 37 Sensor Kit ― a most handy collection of sensors to expand the kinds of things you can make with your HyperDuino or MakerBit. You’ll also need an MP3 player board ...
Concept: I want to make a Halloween batman dog costume that has a flapping cape. I am going to use a continuous micro servo to pull the cape up and down, and use an accelerator to detect whether or not the dog is standing up or laying down, so that when the dog is standing up, the cape will flap, but when the dog is turned to the side, the cape will not move. I also plan on adding RGB LEDS around the batman symbol. I the costume to look like the cape is flapping in the wind when the dog is runni ...

3D pumkin?

Posted by nemos Oct 26, 2018
Well yes why not let's try it, things are change, we change traditions change as well, with the help of technology we can give form to things and create new objects. Nowadays we can create objects from plastic but not limited to in the future I guess. This year I suggest to makers lets make our first *for me at least 3d pumpkin from orange abs with the use of a 3d printer. Be creative shape the world. ...
