The package of measures known as the “New Legislative Framework” was adopted in the European Council on 9 July 2008 and published in the Official Journal a few weeks later. The measures were designed to help the internal market, for goods to work better, and to strengthen and modernise the conditions for placing a wide range of industrial products on the EU market.

8 new EU directives have been aligned with the EU New Legislative Framework (NLF). All entered into force on 18 April 2014 and will repeal their old directives on 20 April 2016:

Explosives for civil users

Simple pressure vessels

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

Non-automatic weighing instruments

Measuring instruments

Lifts and safety components for lifts

Equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX)

Electric equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits (LVD)
