A popular question is what happened to the exemption for light dependant resistors. In particular, with reference to the very popular ORP12 and its derivatives.   This was exemption 40 of the RoHS Directive “Cadmium in photoresistors for analogue optocouplers applied in professional audio equipment”. Umweltbundesamt, the Austrian Environment Agency, working on behalf of the European Commission has finalised a list of substances facing restriction under the RoHS Recast Directive 2011/65/EU. Among other things their report confirms the recommendation to include phthalates DEHP, DBP, and BBP as well as flame retardant HBCDD in annex II of the directive (restricted substances).
