While one industry organisation claims that there will be no need to comply with Conflict Mineral legislation some lawyers are advising their clients against ignoring the law while hoping that a final resolution could come from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Industry observers believe that the large electronics companies have spent many millions of dollars helping to achieve alignment with Conflict Mineral obligations and they will continue to monitor their supply chains to avoid any lack of compliance. These companies will insist that suppliers and other vendors continue to source raw materials from reputable sources.

Speakers representing organisations such as IPC and ECIA in the U.S. had opposing views and lawyers had their own opinions.

This is likely to lead to further court decisions down the road.
