The XMS500A range of 500W, 1U, single-output power supplies is certified for both industrial (62368) and medical (60601) equipment with BF ready medical isolation. Available in either class I or class II (no earth ground wire) configurations, the whole range achieves class B EMC performance, both conducted and radiated, to EN55011 and EN55032.
Operating from a wide 85 to 264Vac range, the series can withstand 300Vac surges for five seconds. Standard output voltages are 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V, with various standby supply options available.
Typical applications include medical and diagnostic equipment, home healthcare, imaging and clinical diagnostic systems, and industrial, test and measurement, and communications equipment.

The demand for electric vehicles is continuing to rise, but a concern for many drivers is the availability, capability and reliability of charging stations. Additional functions are being added to these new chargers, including scalability and load balancing between multiple stations.
Tasked with making a new range of chargers more consumer friendly, designers asked TDK-Lambda for a recommendation for 600W power supplies capable of providing 12V or 24V outputs. This was to power touch panel displays, communication interface and LED lighting. The units had to be compact and reliable as they were offering a three year warranty on their product.
The RWS600B-12 and RWS600B-24 supplies are now being used by the manufacturer, who valued the seven year warranty, specification and cost effectiveness of the units.

The Z+ programmable power supplies can be configured to either automatically resume operation when unit is turned on (auto start), or for the output to remain off until directed otherwise (safe mode).
To change the setting, the multi-function output button is pressed, held and then released when the desired function (auto or safe) is displayed.

Switch to 100% “Yorisou renewable energy”
TDK Corporation (President & CEO: Shigenao Ishiguro) announces that the company is switching to 100% green power provided by renewable energy at Nagaoka Technical Center (Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture) of TDK-Lambda Corporation (President and CEO: Sanai Hattori), by subscribing to “Yorisou renewable energy” supplied by Tohoku Electric Power Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Kojiro Higuchi) starting July 2021. This will be the Group’s first production site in Japan that powers its operation with 100% green power. TDK-Lambda is a 100% subsidiary of TDK that develops, manufactures and sells power supplies for industrial devices, which are the keys to creating an energy-saving society.
In Environmental Vision 2035, TDK has stated its aims of achieving social value (enhancing the social value of the company) and realizing a sustainable and prosperous society for all people by operating with an environmental load that does not disturb the natural cycle. Part of that effort involves reducing CO2 emissions from the electricity used at TDK-Lambda Nagaoka Technical Center to zero.

TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) announces the introduction of the 500W rated configurable TDK-Lambda brand XMS500A series of AC-DC power supplies. The series is mechanically designed for effective cooling with a low 1m/s airflow, reducing acoustic noise. Additional features over the preceding XMS500 models include an ATX power good signal, full power at 85Vac input, extended 20ms hold-up time and compliance with EN 60601-1-2 immunity.
The XMS500A is certified to both medical and industrial safety standards and meets EN 55011-B and EN 55032-B radiated and conducted emissions in protection Class I or Class II (no earth ground wire) applications. Target applications include home healthcare, hospital equipment, imaging and clinical diagnostic systems in addition to industrial, test and measurement and communications equipment.
The configurability of the XMS500A allows engineers to select from a wide range of options to optimise system design and lower cost without requiring the development of a modified standard. These options include 5V and 12V standby voltages, a fan supply voltage, case options (including a built-in fan), remote on/off, reduced leakage / touch current, AC fail, and single or dual input fusing. Standard output voltages available are 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V. Additional voltages and options are also offered.
Operating from 85 to 264Vac and withstanding 300Vac surges for five seconds, the series can deliver full power in ambient temperatures up to 50°C with linear derating to 50% load at 70°C. The open frame configuration measures 102x180x37mm and the U channel 107x180x39.5mm.
All models are safety certified to IEC/EN/ES 60601-1, IEC/EN/UL 62368-1, 60950-1, designed to meet IEC 61010-1 and IEC 60035-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives. The XMS500A is also in compliance with the EN 61000-6-3, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 61000-4 emissions and immunity standards. Input to output isolation is 4,000Vac (2 x MoPP), input to ground isolation 1,500Vac (1 x MoPP) and output to ground isolation is 1,500Vac (1 x MoPP) for suitability in B, BF and BFD (defibrillator proof) equipment.
