Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   Well, I am running out of time to complete this project.  All the usual excuses, out of town guests and other distractions.  I am going to do well just to finalize all the construction by next week.  I did a test print of the component mounting bracket (inse ...
I decided to do some initial RSSI testing at various locations inside my house and outside in the backyard to see how much loss I was getting due to the structure of my house.  This is to get a baseline for further outdoor testing.   There are two components that determine the quality of the received radio signal, RSSI and SNR.  The LoRa Gateway measures these values for each transmission that it receives.   The Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) is the received sig ...

Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   Making some progress - I got the GPS hooked up to the MKR 1300 and transmitting data to The Things Network.   GPS Module The GPS that I am using is a Neo-6M board with a ceramic antenna. The module communicates with the MKR 1300 via a UART so the connections are ...
As we all experience with our projects - the Devil is in the details.  As I started to figure out how to mount all the components for the sensor in the case, I quickly realized that the case that I had chosen was too small.  One significant error that I has made was to use a AAA battery pack for sizing when my plan was to use a AA pack.   The case that I had intended to use is 100 x 60 x 25 mm and is shown on the left with MKR 1300 and the AAA battery pack.  And below that i ...

Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   I recently connected my Things Gateway to the Things Network and this Project14 challenge seemed like a good opportunity to do some experiments with the two MKR WAN 1300 boards that I received with the gateway.   I'd like to build a pair of portable outdoor LoRa sens ...
