Holiday Special 19 Enter Your Holiday Season Project for a Chance to Win Over $20,000 Worth of Prizes and Gifts to Give! Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   There are lots of theories about what powers Santa's sleigh. There may be some magic on element14, but in this exercise we are exploring other possibilities....   The theory explored here is that the sleigh is powered by a drone... I received a MicroDuino Quadcopter Kit as a f ...

Holiday Special 19 Enter Your Holiday Season Project for a Chance to Win Over $20,000 Worth of Prizes and Gifts to Give! Back to The Project14 homepage Project14 Home Monthly Themes Monthly Theme Poll   Although this isn't a typical happy new year message, I do hope your dreams and bucket lists continue to seem possible. I thought I would kick it off with a lesson in what not to do based on a comment by Fred27 about using a hot air workstation in a kitchen. This is another inappropri ...
I put these videos in a comment reply to one of my previous posts, but I'll give them their full due in case it was easy to miss.   Well, I hoped to do a better video, but it is out in the yard and I don't want to tear it apart while it is working well .  One comment I would like to make is that in the video I said that I was generating 5V for the LM3914, I am actually running that off of 15V as well.  So both converters put out 15V, it is just that one has better current output. ...
OK, here is an updated schematic; it is actually the exact same as before minus a pull-up resistor on the FETs.  So how about I explain things a little more and maybe we can see what I messed up this time .   So the FETs are P-Channel setup up as a low-side load.  I like to use low-side because then I don't have power always on at the other end of the Drain.  In this application, there is no power in the system at all unless it is being cranked, but it is just a habit, so I ...

Christmas Spirit Crank

OK, as promised, here is a simple schematic (pretty stripped down as I didn't have time to dust off Orcad).  I tried to lay it out so that it can be followed left to right, top to bottom.  I think I captured most of the big points, but please point out something if you think I missed it (or have a question).   SCHEMATIC IS JUNK FOR BEING A COTTON HEADED NINNY MUGGINS! WILL ADD A LINK TO AN UPDATED ONE WHEN I POST. LEAVING THIS UP AS A LEARNING EXERCISE, DO NOT USE!   Here is ...

Christmas Spirit Meter

Posted by garengllc Dec 14, 2019
I like to make homemade Christmas props for the front yard.  I have a handful of props I put out by the sidewalk to make things interactive and this year I thought that I would try something new, The Christmas Spirit-tron (the spelling on the last word is up for debate and I would love to get some thoughts).  Basically you spin a crank to light some bulbs.  The faster you spin, the more lights you light up.  I was basically shooting for something like the strong-man sledge ha ...

We are currently starting a project with our 7year old. We have a gen 1 raspberry pie that we are teaching him coding and electronic circuitry with. We are building and coding a retro gaming system. I know it’s basic but it’s a great starter project for our son to learn circuits and coding together. ...

The SBCs reside in a cluster skel ...
