When working with analogue signals, scaling them to the correct range for the Analogue to Digital Converter (ADC) is always important. Below are some projects that will help anyone starting in this area.   Project 11 - Using the Raspberry Pi to measure temperature Outline This application note shows the hardware and Python code required to measure temperature using the Raspberry Pi. Any of the Raspberry Pi models can be used including B, B+ and the Raspberry Pi 2.   In this projec ...
I am wanted to start this Blog to discuss the benefits and downfalls with using a Netgear XAVB5221 -XAVB5221 | Powerline | Networking | Home | NETGEAR My thought to use this device came from a project that I have been working on a Birdhouse that contains as Raspberry Pi + NoIR PiCAM + IR LED light Ring. The birdhouse is about 200 feet back from my house. I run an extension cord back to the setup and use a WiFi dongle to get my internet connection. I use a 4 inch 5 DdBi Screw-On Swivel Rubber A ...

Ways To Be Secret

For those in
ear London from next month to mid-July (1st April - 19th July 2015), or even if you're not local, it might be of interest that the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum) has an exhibition called All of This Belongs to You which is designed to provoke the discussion of what public buildings such as museums mean any more, given that many people have moved to an online existence for some of their needs (perhaps exemplified best by libraries which seem to be closing all over the country) ...
Hello Everyone.   I thought I'd help any other newbies by describing the problems I had setting up my Raspberry Pi 2, and how I finally solved it. This is my first Blog Post, so please bare with me.   I want to state that I most of my computer experience is Windows-base, and most of my Linux experience is web- or GUi-based. In addition, I think that the Raspberry Pi (and the whole Maker & IoT movements) are the most exciting things I've see in years.   My Pi came in the mai ...
Build an Intruder detector with Raspberry Pi and robomq.io Device, sensors and systems connecting together are driving the next generation of applications creating the Internet of Things (IoT). robomq.io provides an open standard based platform to connect your devices and sensors to the back end applications, systems, processes and people, enabling you to build the next big thing. Raspberry Pi, a popular programmable device, is a good representative example for device integration. The Ra ...

Happy Pi Day

Posted by Anuja Apte Mar 13, 2015
I wanted to come up with my own way to wish everyone a Happy Pi Day (3.14-15). I found this image file which has the symbol Pi on an edible Pie. I figured I will use MATLAB and Raspberry Pi 2 to scan the image and extract the symbol Pi out of it.   In short I came up with a Pi 2 that can extract the Pi out of Pie to wish everyone Happy π day. ...

What is Pi Day?

Posted by gsimerlink element14 Team Mar 11, 2015
You have probably seen the words Pi Day all over your social media accounts, and while many people know and celebrate Pi Day, there are others who don't understand why there is a day for Pi.   Pi Day is celebrated on March 14, which when abbreviated as a numerical date in the US comes out as 3.14 which is also the basic given value of Pi or "The ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter." The value of Pi is irrational so it actually goes on forever without repeating. The first ten ...

In this article, I’m going to build a simple temperature controller using the Raspberry Pi.  This will use a DS18B20 temperature sensor to determine the current temperature and then use a relay to turn on/off a heater. With this set up, I should be able to keep the temperature in a room constant over a long period of time.   Background Wine needs to be fermented at a fairly high temperature (72 degrees Fahrenheit) for a fairly long time (2-3 weeks).  Since it is the middle o ...
