The European Commission and Member States established a working group to prepare an FAQ document in respect of the RoHS Recast Directive 2011/65/EU.
While the FAQ document is not legally binding it is likely to be considered persuasive in many Member States interpretations.
UPDATE-FAQ 8.3 suggests that components need to fully comply (CE mark etc) but 9.5 and 9.6 suggest they do not. At this moment in time the Enforcement Authorities cannot offer clarity on this point. If they do need to be CE marked it will not be until 2019.
The RoHS Recast will see changes in such as:
- CE Mark obligations
- Technical Files
- Exclusions (there will be no exclusion for Semiconductor Development Tools)
The new obligations take effect from 2 January 2013.
