    MICROSTACK is a family of reusable accessory boards with a common framework of form factor and interface connections that work across various different platforms with the use of platform specific base boards (adapter boards) starting with Raspberry Pi.

    MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER Provides easy, plug and play integration and development for designs requiring a accelerometer function to all platforms compatible with the Microstack framework. Acceleration sensor features a MMA8491Q is a low voltage, 3-axis low-g accelerometer in a 3x3mm QFN package that can accommodate two configurations, acting as either a 45° tilt sensor or a digital output 14-bit ±8g accelerometer with I2C bus.

    How do I power the MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER when stacked using MICROSTACK BASE BOARD on a Raspberry pi?
    With jumper JP1 installed on base board, MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER gets its power from Raspberry pi.
    Please note: If Microstack is powered via its microusb connector, then the jumper must be removed to prevent power flowing into the Raspberry Pi.
    What other accessories do I need to interface MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER to a Raspberry pi?
    In order to interface the MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER with the Raspberry Pi you will need the MICROSTACK BASE BOARD.
    Please refer page number 2 and 3 of datasheet in the below link, it shows fitting instructions and jumper settings for base board.
    What is the default measuring range of the MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER
    By default, the range of the MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER is set to 2g. However, it has ±2g/±4g/±8g dynamically selectable ranges.

    What is the maximum output data rate of the MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER?
    The MICROSTACK ACCELEROMETER is based on the MMA8491Q accelerometer IC. The registers embedded inside the MMA8491Q are accessible through the I2C serial interface, so the maximum output data rate depends on I2C bus speed.
