After some troubles trying to drill and tap the included plastic clips, I've found two methods of securing the board without damaging components. The first involves a nylon standoff (#4-40) , although there isn't space to secure the nut on top. The second uses a sandwich of nylon shoulder washers and a long #4-40 screw. UPDATE 30 November 2019:  I must concede defeat.  "Sensing the World" ends today and I am no more successful with the code for my project than when I started.  I learned a lot, but no where near where I need to be to do what I had envisioned.
