The LPC551x/S1x MCU family expands LPC5500 into a new price point, offering significant advantages for developers, including pin-, software- and peripheral-compatibility for ease of use and to help accelerate time to market, while still leveraging the cost-effective 40-nm NVM process technology.

The LPC551x/S1x is the entry-level family within the LPC5500 MCU series, providing new levels of cost and performance efficiency in addition to security and system integration for industrial, IoT and general embedded applications.

LPC551x/S1x is suitable for a wide range of applications such as industrial and building automation, consumer products and smart home applications.

Leveraging the integration of a high-speed/high resolution ADC module, the CAN-FD interface, the LPC551x/S1x is suitable for remote IO, sensor nodes, elevator control panel, smart lighting and other industrial and building automation applications.

Due to its rich interface offering such as CAN-FD, HS USB, up to 8 FlexComm interfaces along with its great power efficiency and low-price, this microcontroller is ideal to be deployed in consumer products such as gaming peripherals, tracking systems and power tools.

Its advanced security features make the LPC551x/S1x MCU family the right fit in security systems and in smart home related applications



Like other NXP MCUs, LPC551x/S1x is fully supported by NXP's MCUXpresso ecosystem, which includes a free downloadable IDE, dedicated SDK package where you could find lots of example codes, and pin configuration tool.

NXP also designed LPCXpresso55S16 development board as the ideal platform for evaluation and development. The board features an on-board LPC-Link2 debug probe based on the LPC4322 MCU for a performance debug experience over high speed USB, with easy firmware update options to support CMSIS-DSP or a special version of J-link LITE from SEGGER.
