I wanted to build a resistor kit for myself. Kits are available ready-made, but they are expensive. The lower-cost kits have a 5% tolerance but for prototype development purposes I'd rather just go for a 1% set with 100ppm temperature coefficient. This was just the sweet spot I decided on for my needs - not an extremely tight tolerance or tempco that would be expensive, and not such a loose tolerance/tempco either.
