A 6.4A-20nA current/voltage/power monitor based on the TI INA209 with dedicated GND, usable as Shield, Wing, Breakout or Breadboard.     Description   The Watt-A-Live is a versatile embedded power monitor based on the Texas Instruments INA209 with full connectivity to the unit under test. It measures the load current through a shunt resistor and has separate GND connections to the power supply and the load to make it a true power monitor. It is designed as an Adafruit Feathe ...
Introduction  This review is a little different from the insulation tester series, as it is an extension of the reviews on the Extech MG302 and the Di-LOG DL9307, that are essentially the same meter as the RS Pro RS-9985. Ultimately, all of these meter are a clone of the DT-9985 from CEM instruments.   Extech MG302 Review   Di-LOG DL9307 Review   There were initially three objectives for the review of this RS Pro unit.   1) Further investigation into the failure of t ...
A close up the new smart skin (Image credit: ACS Nano)   Scientists have been making strides in creating color-changing smart skin that can be applied to various applications, but it hasn’t been easy. Current smart skin isn’t very strong and changes its size after being exposed to different temperatures. Now, a group of researchers has made a breakthrough in smart skin.  Khalid Salaita and his colleagues have created a new smart skin that changes color but doesn’t ch ...
Introduction  Seems like a while since I looked at an insulation tester, this one has been around for a some time, but I have only just got to writing it up. This is number 8 in my ongoing quest to see if there is a small handheld insulation tester out there suitable for working on generator rotors. Previous testers reviewed are;   Keysight Insulation Multimeter Failure   Megger MIT420/2 Road Test   Chauvin Arnoux CA6526 Insulation Tester Review   Flir IM75 Insulation T ...
Researchers were able to reproduce a group coral in two days for the first time in a lab setting. Image - Coral spawning in a lab. (image credit: The Florida Aquarium)   Things are looking grim for America’s Great Barrier Reef. The third-largest coral reef in the world is on the verge of extinction, but a new scientific breakthrough may help save the reef. Researchers at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa Bay have successfully reproduced a group of coral two days in a row for the first ti ...
Engineers at MIT have created a magnetically controlled threadlike robot that glides through the narrow pathways, such as the labyrinthine vasculature of the human brain. Their research is published in journal Science Robotics.   The robotic thread (in black) can be steered around blood vessels in a brain by using large magnets. Researchers hope the new technology will be used in the future to clear out blockages in patients who suffered from strokes and aneurysms. (Image Credit: MIT) ...
