welcome any feedback
Yes, the Cirrus Logic Audio Card has been discontinued cause the WM5102 chip has been discontinued . Very problematic.
hmmm - still seems like it's on their website:
and there are a ton in stock ... I suspect Raspberry Pi volumes were way too low for a chip manufacturer...
Do you think Cirrus could be convinced to release the design into the public / "maker" domain?
yes, unfortunately it has been discontinued. I called Cirrus and Wolfson and Element14. Then I tried to buy 20 on a site called 'eleduino' because they said they have 50 in stock but it wasn't true. (had to fight for a refund). Someone on amazon in Finland has some cards but they are the older Wolfson cards, not the Cirrus.
there is a card called audioinjector that is somewhat similar. It's the only card i could find that has audio in and audio out - most only have audio out. I talked to a company named iqaudio (www.iqaudio.co.uk) and they may make this type of card, but it's months away.
I'd like to have the Cirrus card back as it was a key component in a product i just launched. Now I'm back to square 2 and need to redesign an enclosure and repeat FCC testing
I would like to know is the Cirrus Logic Audio Card is a discontinued product. In Farnell (Element 14), it is not possible to buy this product and there are very few in another distributor.
In case that has been discontinued, is there a new audio card with similar characteristics?.
