Re: Arduino Uno
Drew Fustini Jul 28, 2014 1:59 PM (in response to Raphael98)Hi Raphael,
I live in Chicago and enjoy making projects with Arduinos. There is a group on Meetup but I don't think it has gotten much traction yet: http://www.meetup.com/Arduino101/
I'm a member of Chicago's hackerspace, Pumping Station: One, which has periodic Arduino workshops. There is also a weekly Tuesday open house and meeting where you'll surely find folks working with Arduinos. Here's the events calendar: http://pumpingstationone.org/events/
There's another hackerspace in the west suburbs called Workshop 88. They have classes and regular meetings, too. Check out there site: http://workshop88.com/
Also, Chibots has a strong microcontroller focus which I think includes Arduino.
Please share if you find any other local Arduino related groups.
Thanks,
Drew

Re: Arduino Uno
Drew Fustini Jun 13, 2012 5:16 PM (in response to Raphael98)I'll try my best to help, but I'd like to suggest that you post details of your issue here. This would benefit others who might encounter a similar issue and search for a solution in the future. In addition, there are many experienced Arduino users in this forum who may be able to provide valuable advice as well.
Cheers,
Drew

I am using XP I went to one site that told me to go to START > RUN > DEVMGNT.msc. I am new to this so when the USB port is highlighted I get lost because the error message after i VERify I get says I need COM3 port. I hpoe you know what I am writing

Re: Arduino Uno
Drew Fustini Jun 13, 2012 7:09 PM (in response to Raphael98)Ah, unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with how Arduino works for Windows as I've only used it with Linux. I know there are several experienced Arduino users on here that use Windows though so hopefully someone else can chime in.
The R3 version of the Uno uses a different USB chip (Atmega16U2), so some instructions on the web may be for the older versions which used a FTDI chip. I believe these instructions are for the Uno R3 on Windows XP:

Re: Arduino Uno
Drew Fustini Jun 15, 2012 11:25 AM (in response to Raphael98)I see there is a new thread for Ask our expert Simon Monk. Simon has written several books on Arduino, so you may want to post this issue there as well.
