Greetings. I am new to the world of the Pi and am toying with an idea. I have my reasons for asking (mostly nostalgia), but does anyone have any experience running the old OS/2 Warp operating system on a Pi? Thanks for any input.
Hi Jeff, I only used it briefly so I may have forgotten, but I think OS/2 was only available as a binary, to run on x86 chips. The Pi uses a different processor architecture so the binaries won't be compatible, without some translation (which is possible, but can be slow). There's an example here of Windows 98 on Pi, using such a method,…
This project is done with Open Source Computer Vision Library (OpenCV). OpenCV was designed for computational efficiency and with a strong focus on real-time applications. So, it's perfect for real-time face recognition using a camera. To create a complete project on Face Recognition, we must work on 3 very distinct phases:Face detection and data… Show more

My 10 year old is CRAZY about computers and is interested in setting up his own Raspberry Pi system. Any suggestions on what I should get? He saw a video about one being set up with a touch screen and the clear box. Any suggestions?
Like most people, I want to run my Pi 'headless' - i.e. I want to connect to it remotely using my laptop keyboard and screen. It means that I don't have to hook anything up to the Pi, and I don't need to get a second screen and keyboard. There's several ways of doing this - using VNC for example, or Putty (for a command line interface) and there's…
Things may have changed since this original blog post is now almost 6 years old, some routers may automatically assign the same IP address every time anyway, by default. With a cheap home router (as supplied by the ISP) I use a config where I've set the router to provide addresses within a certain range only. Anything that would benefit from a…
Rejoice one and all 3.14.19 is Pi Day 2019. In celebration of our favorite Food, Mathematical Constant and Credit Card Size Computer we will be running an exclusive badge with some fancy Raspberry Pi Swag. As well as Pi day it is worth noting that we are just past Raspberry Pi's 7th Birthday, the Raspberry Pi Foundation ran the Raspberry Jam…
Hey everyone, I'm preparing myself because I need to build a project next year and write a thesis about it. My project is an automated telescope. Now I was wondering how I could turn the telescope around with some kind of motors at a precision of at least 1 degree. Has anyone experience with this kind of stuff or someone who has an idea?

If one were to place a mSata hard drive into this unit, is the unit able to boot and run off of the mSata drive? Or does it still need the micro SD card to boot? https://canada.newark.com/element14/pi-desktop/accessory-type-desktop-computer/dp/05AC3756#ProductAccessories
